toptentuesday2

It’s time again for Top Ten Tuesday hosted by the Broke and the Bookish.

This week’s topic is the top ten books from a particular genre that are considered staples that you’re surprised you haven’t read yet.

I’m going to break it down into a couple of genres and look at books that I haven’t read yet.

Science Fiction
1.  Brave New World by Aldux Huxley
2.  Ringworld by Larry Niven

Fantasy
3.  Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey
4.  The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan

Mystery
5.  The Daughter of Time by Josephine Tey
6.   Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie

100 Books To Read In Your Lifetime
7.   Les Miserables by Victor Hugo
8.   Watership Down by Richard Adams
9.   The Secret History by Donna Tartt
10. Catch 22 by Joseph Heller

  1. SF: Hated Brave New World, loved Ringworld.
Fantasy: Enjoyed McCaffrey Dragon series and also the Harper Hall ones. I’m another person who hasn’t read Jordan’s Wheel of Time books.
Mystery: both fascinating and fun books.
100 books: Les Miserables is way too long. Parts were fun, other parts got pretty boring for me. Watership Down, fun all the way through. Haven’t read the last two either.

So THE SECRET HISTORY is on my list too. And from the comments I’m getting, I should read it ASAP. Do read MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS. A unique mystery.

  3. Brave New World is wonderful! Hope you have a chance to read it.

  4. The Secret History is very good and I highly recommend!
